it’s pronounced “missionary”

jesus was a vagabond

Do you want to become who God made you to be? Do you desire to belong to something bigger than yourself, that goes further than comfort? Do you long to follow Jesus to the margins of society and make a real impact in real lives?

This kind of missionary work requires you step out of your lived experience. Where would you go? How would you serve? Who would you do it with? How would you get started?

Vagabond Missions has been serving young people in the inner city for over 20 years. Our missionaries do hard, holy work in places others often avoid. They belong to a community that is more than people who look or talk like us. They have answered the call and step beyond themselves.

OUR MISSION

Sharing Jesus’ vagabond heart for the lost, we at Vagabond Missions build friendships with and serve teens in urban and inner-city communities to bring them the Good News.

A group of young people and an adult woman posing for a photo inside a church near a crucifix of Jesus Christ. The group is diverse, with various skin tones and hairstyles, and all are smiling or making gestures for the picture.
A person holding a rosary with a cross in the foreground, while walking behind a group of people in a suburban neighborhood on a sunny day.
Group of people playing basketball in an indoor gymnasium, one person attempting a shot while others are variously involved.
A person in a suit and a person with dreadlocks participating in a religious ceremony at an altar, with a priest in white and gold vestments pouring holy water on a candidate's head inside a church decorated with candles and religious statues.

We’re not rebels. We’re not misfits. We’re just willing to follow Jesus into the unfamiliar, get a little uncomfortable, and do something most of the world won’t understand.
