Director of Advancement

Years with Vagabond: 8

I started working for Vagabond nearly a decade ago, and I now think much more about why I have stayed than why I began. I am privileged to have been with this amazing organization for this long in large part because I believe even more strongly than when I started that Vagabond Missions is the most important modern-day lay apostolate. It is the Church as a field hospital for sinners, just as Pope Francis described in Joy of the Gospel: living out a ministry of proximity and nearness, sharing hope, and proclaiming Christ crucified in deed and word. And just as God called St. Francis of Assisi to rebuild the Church through preaching the Gospel, a ministry of presence, and service to the marginalized, the missionaries of Vagabond can be a beacon to those in the pews — clergy and laity alike — reminding the Church that God became man and dwelt among his people. The self-sacrificing of our missionaries, and endless pursuit of souls has inspired me to stay.

I’d be the patron saint of golf.

My go-to relational ministry activity is playing basketball.
