I was on the core team for Vagabond in Steubenville during my time as a student at Franciscan. I’m not totally sure why I joined; I just thought it sounded super cool and felt like God was asking me to see what it was about. I pretty immediately fell in love with the mission and the people, and before I knew it I started working part-time for Vagabond in my senior year. God gently showed me throughout my last year in college that this is where he was asking me to be, so I said “yes,” came on full-time once I graduated, and haven’t looked back since.
My favorite moment as a missionary so far is definitely a tie between becoming a godparent twice and this past summer at camp when a teen rushed up to me after adoration, told me that she heard God clearly speak to her, and she wanted to respond to him and become Catholic. I’ve known her for three years and have spent a lot of time with her – hanging out and talking, praying with and for her – and it was the greatest privilege to be the person with whom she first shared this encounter with God and to have this front-row seat. She is entering the Church this Easter!
If my life were a movie, I would want Saoirse Ronan to play the part of me.
